To unite and provide children of the surrounding community mentorship, positive role models, discipline, teamwork, respect for each other and authority in a safe nurturing environment for positive behaviors to grow and flourish. To educate, teach and coach youth football in a competitive nature in order to create love, passion and respect for the game so that they may be able to take their athletic ability to the next level. To provide all of our local high school communities with well developed athletes.

who we are

The South Lake Soldiers Youth Football team may be a new name, however the internal members have been coaching and bringing competitive youth football programs to the surrounding South Lake (Clermont, Minneola, Groveland, Mascotte) for well over a decade. Our team is composed of all the former directors and coaches from the Clermont Cowboys and the Lake Minneola Hawks youth football teams. We are a not-for-profit 501C(3) organization that strives to give back 100% to the community. Instead of competing against each other, these former program directors and coaches have decided to create a powerhouse team bringing our communities together to create the “South Lake Soldiers”. Our team is not representing any one particular high school as many youth football teams tend to do. Instead we have chosen to represent South Lake county as a whole, because we are a feeder program to all our local high schools.

Why the name soldiers

Many football players have compared this game to a war or battle on the gridiron. It is intense, aggressive and requires brute force and discipline. Soldiers are needed for wars and soldiers are trained for war. Football players go through an intense training and conditioning regimen that many say is like a military style “boot camp”. Many of our founders and coaches are in fact proud Veterans that have served across every branch of the US Military. So we are proud to be called “SOLDIERS”.

The founders of this team are not only proud Veterans, but also hold the highest regard for their FAITH. We believe that if it wasn’t for God’s grace and sacrifice, we wouldn’t have the opportunity to be a blessing to this community and to bless these young athletes with strong positive role models and mentors. Our faith in Christ also makes us “Soldiers of Christ”.
