Ravi Rampersad

Coach Ravi

Born in Trinidad, my family migrated to NY when I was 3 years old. I have a blended family of 7 with 3 sons of my own that all play football. My bonus children are also very involved with sports and other activities such as soccer, dance and gymnastics. I consider myself a native New Yorker and lived there for over 30 years. I played high School football for Port Richmond High School in Staten Island.

I proudly served in the US Army Medical Specialist Corp as a 1st Lieutenant. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Occupational Science, a Masters in Occupational Therapy and a Doctor of Occupational Therapy Degree. I am also a Certified Health Coach. I am retired from the healthcare field and run my own business in rental properties.

I began my coaching career with the Staten Island Boys Football League when my oldest son was 6 years old at the time. Yes, I was that loud mouth dad on the sideline critiquing his coach and trying to show my son what he should do in between water breaks until my son’s Head Coach asked me if I’d be interested in coaching with him. I never thought that moment would be the beginning of something amazing. I have been a youth football coach for 9+ years. I was one of the former Asst. Area Directors for the Lake Minneola Hawks Youth Football program and former Assistant Area Directors for the Clermont Cowboys Youth Football program.

I have a passion for teaching and coaching football and nothing satisfies me more than watching a new player who has never played organized football execute their first tackle or catch their first pass. I have coached players from 8U through 14U. I have also coached flag football for multiple age levels for a few of our local community programs.

Walter Brown

Coach Brown

I played High School football at Groveland High School. After graduation I attended Florida A&M University. While attending, I was drafted into the Army and went to Vietnam. After Vietnam, I went to Orlando College where I received a Bachelor Degree in Business and an Associate Degree in Management. I started coaching with Pop Warner in Groveland Florida when the league first started up in the 1980’s. I can’t remember the exact year I started but it was when my grandson started playing football. One day his coach quit and left the team. I stepped in and  never stopped coaching as I am still here  today. My life was not perfect and I made a lot of mistakes. With God’s help I was able to turn my life around. So when I asked Him what my purpose in life was, he pointed me to coaching kids. Our young men need discipline, leadership and love. I try to instill that in my coaching every day that I am on that field. I love doing it and never regretted a moment in my 23+ years of coaching youth football.

Tim Moses

Coach TIm

My name is Pastor Tim Moses “Coach Mo” and I am the Pastor of Crosstown Christian Assembly. I’ve been pastoring for 7 years and have been in ministry for 21 years. He is happily married with three children and has been active in the South Lake County community since 2007. I enlisted into the USMC at the age of 19. When I returned to Florida I became engaged in youth outreach and mentoring. I’ve worked in the behavioral health field for 12 years caring for clients with different diagnoses, and have been a substitute teacher for the Lake County School Board. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Certified K-12 in Special Ed. in the state of Florida. I also have 7+ years of Coaching experience including youth tackle football, middle school flag football, and high school basketball. I specialize in team building, conflict resolution, and counseling (Christian, Marriage, and Family).

PJ KEENEY

Coach PJ

My name is coach PJ and I am 35 years old. I reside in Leesburg and am born and raised here in Florida! As a kid, I had a rough upbringing; and didn’t make the very best choices. I dropped out in the 9th grade and started washing cars at the shop I currently work at. I worked hard and found my way up the totem pole. I spent many years learning my profession and now am a well respected and highly skilled auto body technician. During this time, I met my wife of 15 years; Rosanna and had 3 kids-Lorayna, Sean and Melody.

I became a coach 3 years ago; taking my team to championships all three years I have been coaching! I love coaching and being able to make a difference in kids’ lives. I strive to be the role model I never had. My goal is to instill discipline, respect and a love of football for all my players. Unlike some of my fellow founders, I never served in the military. However, the streets were my battlefield and I was at war with them daily in my adolescence. My life turned around when I found faith and love in Christ. I may not have been a soldier that served in the military but I gladly stand up and declare that I am a Soldier of Christ in the Lord’s army!

Rosanna Keeney

My name is Rosanna and I am 34 years old. I am a mother to 3 and have been married for 15 years. I’ve been a stay-at- home mom since my first born, 12 years ago. I just received my AA in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Law and plan to go back to school for Early Childhood Education. May after a 12 year hiatus. I fully expected to be back in the workforce but God had other plans. I, unexpectedly, ended up homeschooling this year and am continuing to stay home. So blessed for the opportunity! I grew up playing softball and loving nothing other than baseball (go Yankees!). I had always fully expected my kids to follow in baseball/softball. And here we are…

My daughter, Lorayna, is 12 and has been playing tackle football just about as long as my son, Sean, who has been playing almost 4 years. My youngest daughter, Melody, is 7 and loves all things art. I’ve been a team mom since we started this adventure. Recently, last year, I became the Assistant Director of our previous league and was serving as the Director of that program the last few weeks of the season.. I have slowly learned the game and have grown a love for the sport. With starting South Lake Soldiers, I hope to adapt a culture of family and football. Being here, I pray our kids feel loved, driven, motivated, accepted and learn a love of the game!
